WEIGHING SYSTEM FOR MACROPAK TM2000/2 (LAUMAS W60,000)

The weighing system of the TM200 filler is made up of the following components:

  • N°8 load cells of 1,000 kg each type CB1.000 (4 head cells “A” 4 head cells “B”)
  • 2 IP56 ALUMINUM BOX type junction boxes (one for head “A” and one for “B”)
  • N°2 W60.000 type weighing terminal 24Vdc power supply (one for head “A” and one for head “B”)
  • The system communicates via serial with the PLC

Before programming and calibrating the system it is a good idea to carry out some checks on every single platform of the machine:

  • Check that the support surfaces of the load cells, upper and lower, are perfectly clean and free of roughness.
  • Check that the machine and its platform are level.
  • Check that the temperature near the load cells is uniform, they don't have to be be strong temperature differences (steam releases, etc.) between one cell and another.
  • In extreme cases, check the deflection of the upper support plates with a dial gauge and bottom of the load cells when loading a weight greater than 200 kg; there shouldn't be no flexing. (P.S. the load cells used in this machine have a deflection of four tenths corresponding to 1,000kg).

The mechanical fixing of the platforms involves the use of four threaded bars for platform. The fixing of the threaded rods must be carried out as follows:

  • Loosen all the bars and position the platform so that there are no contacts mechanics with the machine chassis.
  • Fix the two ends of each single bar with the relative nuts.
  • Fix the central point of each individual bar, hand-tightening the nuts near the washer and then tighten the lock nut well with a wrench.

VERIFICATION OF THE OPERATION OF A CELL LOAD

The load cells used in this machine have the following characteristics:

  • FULL SCALE 1,000 KG (0.02Volt)
  • POWER SUPPLY RESISTANCE 700 OHM +/- 3 OHM
  • RESISTANCE ON THE OUTPUT SIGNAL 700 OHM +/- 3 OHM
  • SENSITIVITY 2 mV/V +/- 0.1%
  • COMBINED ERROR 0.035%

ELECTRICAL DIAGRAM OF A LOAD CELL

To verify correct operation you need to perform the following tests:

RESISTANCE MEASUREMENT (OHM)

Disconnect the four wires from the junction box and measure the resistance at the ends with a tester of the power wires (AL+ “red” and AL- “black”). The value must fall between 696 and 704 ohms. Repeat the same test at the ends of the signal wires (S+ “white” and S- “yellow”). The value must be about the same. If it doesn't match, replace the cell.

VOLTAGE MEASUREMENT (VOLT)

Check that the voltage at the ends of the power wires (AL+ “red” and AL- “black”) corresponds to approximately 5Vdc. Disconnect the two signal wires from the junction and measurement box and measure with a tester the voltage at the ends of the same wires (S+ “white” and S- “yellow”). The read value depends by the amount of weight placed on the cell.

PROGRAMMING

The W60.000 terminal uses four keys composed as follows:

  • SET↑ It is used to increase the value of the selected parameter or to move to the next item
  • NET↓ It is used to decrease the value of the selected parameter or to move to the previous item
  • →0←⇄ Used to move from left to right or to exit the submenu item or menu
  • PRG↲ It is used to confirm the value or to enter the menu and submenu item

The W60.000 terminal is also made up of five LEDs:

  • 1: State of logic output 1; lights up when the logic output 1 contact closes
  • 2: State of logic output 2; lights up when the logic output 2 contact closes
  • NET: Net weight, lights up after the key or the net weight input is pressed displayed is the net
  • PEAK: Peak, lights up when the peak input is closed, the weight displayed is the peak
  • ><: Stable weight, lights up when the indication on the display is considered stable

The parameters are made up of a menu and a submenu as follows: MENU SUBMENU

Commissioning the instrument:

Turn on the terminal and wait five minutes for all elements to reach temperature stable. Check that the instrument indication is positive and that it increases when applies a weight force on the container. If the indication is negative or the instrument

If the writing “O-L” appears, check the connection of the load cells and their correctness positioning (load direction).

If more than a minute passes without the operator carrying out any operations within the MENU the instrument will automatically exit and return to displaying the weight. Data not confirmed they will be lost.

P.S. To calibrate the system you need to obtain a sample weight, it is advisable use a sample weight provided by the customer, using the same scale you will use for check the containers at the end of production. The sample weight must be as close as possible to the maximum weighing value of the machine. (one pallet with four full drums is sufficient, the weight value must not be less than 500 kg). 7

Press the button, the writing will appear alternating with the weight (MAKE SURE THAT

THE PLATFORM IS TOTALLY FREE AND DOES NOT CARRY ANY WEIGHT). Press the key to reset the tare, press the key and the writing will appear introduce the sample weight onto the platform. Set the sample weight value using the and keys to increase and decrease the value and to position yourself on the next digit. After checking that nothing other than the sample weight weighs on the container, confirm with The writing will appear alternating with the weight, press to return to the menu. The word press will appear and the word press to exit will appear. Verification of instrument calibration: Make sure the platform is empty and the meter reads zero. Introduce the weight inside sample and check the correct indication. - If there is a significant difference (greater than 1-2%) make sure that this is the case does not depend on mechanical issues and check the electrical connections again e the direction of load of the cells. - If the difference is not significant but is 1-2% then proceed with the "correction from weight keyboard”. CORRECTION OF THE INDICATED WEIGHT FROM THE KEYBOARD Press the key then the key and keep them pressed for three seconds, the following will appear:

Press the button, the writing will appear alternating with the weight.

Press and the writing will appear: type the value of the sample weight found on the platform, after having checked that nothing else is inside. Confirm with the key the writing will appear alternating with the weight, press to return to menu. The word press will appear and the word press to exit will appear.
