Uuden materiaalin vastaanotto sisään labille ja hylätyn tai tarpeettoman kaman kierrätys ulos labilta Labille tulee huomattavia määriä tavaraa lahjoituksina niin, ettei kaikkea voida pysyvästi vastaanottaa tilanpuutteen vuoksi. Tästä syystä labilla noudatetaan jatkossa kierrätyspolitiikkaa josta jäsenten on syytä olla selvillä pettymysten välttämiseksi.	Accepting new material into the lab and rotating abandoned and surplus stuff out of the lab The lab receives large amounts of donations of various stuff and it is not possible to permanently store all of it. For this reason a strict rotation policy is in effect and all members should be aware of it to avoid disappointments.
Materiaalin tuominen labille Projekteissa käytetty materiaali; projektien tuotokset Jokainen jäsen voi tuoda ja viedä omissa projekteissaan tarvitsemansa tarvikkeet vapaasti voimassa olevan toimintaohjeen mukaan. Selvennyksenä tällä tarkoitetaan: Jäsenen oletetaan käyttävän projekteissaan omia mukana tuotuja materiaaleja ja/tai labin yhteiskäytössä olevia materiaaleja. Omien materiaalien varastointi labilla on rajoitetusti sallittua, esimerkkinä nimikoidut puu- ja metalliainekset silloin kun ne ongelmitta mahtuvat kyseisten materiaalien varastotilaan. Epäselvissä tapauksissa tilavastaava päättää materiaalin varastoinnista. Oletus tällöin on, että varastointi ei ole pysyvää vaan liittyy meneillään olevaan projektiin ja että projekti myös etenee. Keskeneräisiä projekteja ei jätetä lojumaan labin työtiloihin, vaan ne kulkevat mukana eli poistuvat kun jäsenkin poistuu. Avainjäsenillä on käytössä henkilökohtaiset varastolaatikot joissa materiaalin säilyttäminen on mahdollista. Säilytettävän tavaran on kuitenkin mahduttava laatikoihin. Poikkeustapauksissa varastoinnista vastaava voi myöntää tilapäisen luvan isompien esineiden säilytykseen aiemmin todettujen periaatteiden mukaan. Lahjoitusmateriaali Labille tarjotaan suuria määriä materiaalia, tarvikkeita ja työkaluja lahjoituksina tai pitkäaikaisina lainoina. Vaikka tämä on lähtökohtaisesti positiivinen asia, noudatetaan tässäkin määrämuotoista menettelyä seuraavasti: Lahjoituksen vastaanotosta päättää labin hallitus, ei lahjoittaja. Tarkoittaa käytännössä sitä, että ilman lupaa ei labille kanneta tavaraa jolla ehkä on käyttöä labilla, ehkä ei ole. Yleisesti ottaen päätökset tehdään sillä tavalla konservatiivisesti, että lahjoitukselle pitää olla näkyvä olemassaoleva käyttötarve. Jatkossa lahjoitustavaraa tai mitään muutakaan saapuvaa tavaraa ei levitellä työ- tai oleskelutiloihin. Tavaran vastaanotto tapahtuu vastedes vain ja ainoastaan varastona toimivan autotallin kautta. Kaikki saapuva tavara siis ohjataan sinne, ja vasta sieltä kannetaan eteenpäin sen mukaan kuin se päätetään vasataanottaa.	Importing materials to the lab Materials used in members' projects; project products Each member is free to bring in and out the materials needed for their current projects according to the prevailing procedure. To clarify, this means: In their projects, members can use their own materials which they bring along and/or the common materials of the lab. Storing one's own materials at the lab is only allowed under certain conditions. For example, it is possible to store wood and metal materials when those cause no trouble in the common storage areas reserved for same. These must be clearly labeled as personal property. In unclear cases the person responsible for the workspace makes the decision. It is further required that the storage is temporary and associated with ongoing project that really is making progress. Incomplete projects are not to be left lying in the workspaces, but follow the member in and out. Key-holding members have dedicated storage boxes available for project and material storage. However, the materials must actually fit in the standard box. In exceptional cases the storage responsible can permit storage of larger objects along the principles stated above. Donated material Varying quantities of diverse materials, tools and other stuff are either donated or given as long term loans to the lab regularly. Although this is a positive thing, also here a formal process is implemented as follows: The decision whether to receive a donation is made by the lab board, not the donor. In practice, this means that members are not allowed to cart in stuff that may or may not be useful at the lab. In general, decisions are made conservatively, with a view to an existing need and/or immediate usability at the lab. From now on, donation materials, or any other materials for that matter, will not be spread all around the common and working spaces. Instead, incoming materials will be routed via the storage space at the garage section, and through there only. So members are instructed to carry incoming stuff to the storage area and from there it will be distributed onwards after separate decisions.
Materiaalin kierto ulos labilta Hacklabeilla on yleisesti käytössä ns. 3 viikon kierto uloslähtevän roinan osalta. Se on ollut Helsingin Hacklabillakin käytössä joskaan sitä ei ole viime aikoihin asti noudatettu. Nyt tilanne kuitenkin muuttuu. Jatkossa on siis voimassa 3 viikon luiska, josta jäsenten on syytä olla selvillä pettymysten välttämiseksi. 3 viikon sykli: Labilla on 3 kpl erillisiä roinalaatikoita jotka on merkattu tunnuksin '3', '2', '1'. Nämä laatikot ovat siis erillisiä varsinaisista roskasäiliöistä jotka on kuvattu muualla. Kaikki hylätty / rikkinäinen / tarpeettoman oloinen / muuten vaan mystinen rompe päätyy laatikkoon '3' varsin matalalla kynnyksellä. Satasen seteleitä tai pöydälle jääneitä läppärin latureita ei sinne olla ensimmäisenä viemässä, mutta muuten ei ole niin varmaa. Tarkoituksena on, että labilla viime aikoina vallinnut sotku ja kaaos loppuu nyt. Tilavastaavat hoitavat lähtökohtaisesti hallinnoimansa työtilan, mutta kuka tahansa voi osallistua tähän prosessiin yleisen siisteyden nimessä. viikon välein, tyypillisesti varmaan tiistaisin, laatikot syklitetään, jolloin laatikon '1' sisältö lentää oikeisiin roskiksiin laatunsa mukaisesti. Laatikkojen tunnuket vaihdetaan niin, että '3' → '2', '2' → '1' ja tyhjästä laatikosta tulee '3'. Näin laatikon kyljestä voi lukea sen osapuillisen jäljellä olevan elinajan. Romulaatikoista tavaraa ei palauteta sotkemaan labin hyllyjä/pöytiä! Ainoa pelastus ulos laatikosta on, että jäsen päättää adoptoida esineen itsellen. Tämän jälkeen siihen pätevät normaalit säilytyssäännöt.	Exporting materials out from the lab As a rule, many hacklabs enforce a so called 3 week cycle for processing outgoing scrap. The same has been in use at Helsinki Hacklab, although recently it has somewhat lapsed. Now however, the situation changes. As of now, the 3 week cycle is strictly in effect, so please be aware of it in order to avoid disappointments. The 3 week cycle: There are 3 separate scrap bins marked with labels '3', '2', '1'. These are separate from the actual waste bins mentioned elsewhere. All abandoned / broken / useless / mysterious stuff ends in box '3' with a relatively low threshold. Hundred euro bills or laptop chargers are not the first ones to end there, but otherwise it is not so certain. The intent is to end the recent mess and chaos at the lab. By default, the workspace responsible persons will run the process, but anyone is invited to participate in the name of general tidiness. At one week intervals, typically on Tuesdays, the contents of box '1' are discarded into the actual waste bins according to type. The labels are cycled so that '3' → '2', '2' → '1' and the now empty one becomes '3'. In this way everyone can see the approximate remaining lifetime of the stuff inside. Stuff shall not be returned from the bins to clutter the tables and shelves again! The only rescue out of the scrap box is if a member adopts an object to him/herself. After this, the normal storage rules apply.
